Artist Statement
My Works On Paper Are Intuitive Maps, Rather Than Practical Maps. They Are Collages Where Imagery And Shapes Are Stacked And Pressed On Top Of Each Other.
They Start As Pieces Of Printmaking Paper Folded In My Bag. I Draw On Them Obsessively For A Period Of Time (week To A Month). I Draw While Traveling On The Subway, Waiting For Take- Out, While Doing My Laundry, And All The Places In Between.
My Works On Paper Grow With Time. Lines, Marks, And Colors Are Collaged Into A Paper Used And Taken Around. In The Majority Of My Works On Paper, I Bring In Imagery From Paper Lithography, Silkscreen, Wood Block, And Monotype. I Use An Etching Press To Further Flatten, Add, Or Reduce Each Drawing.
